Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated 8 October 2026
Email only works if mail servers trust each other. One abusive customer can get a shared server blocked by everyone, so this policy is strict. It applies to everything you do with Mailions: mailboxes, the sending API, webmail and the public temporary inboxes.
You may not
- Send spam. Do not send unsolicited bulk or commercial email, or write to purchased, scraped or rented lists. Recipients must have asked to hear from you.
- Phish, defraud or impersonate. Do not pretend to be someone else, send fake invoices, harvest passwords or payment details, or spoof a domain you do not control.
- Distribute malware or links to it, or send content designed to damage or take over other systems.
- Break the law or harm others. This includes illegal content, content that exploits children, threats, harassment and hate, and anything that infringes others' rights.
- Attack or overload the service or other systems: scanning, guessing passwords, denial of service, or working around limits, rate limits or suspensions (for example by opening many accounts).
- Abuse the public temporary inboxes to bypass other services' rules, to mass-create accounts elsewhere, or to receive content that is illegal or harmful.
When you send email in bulk or for marketing
- Keep a clear record of each recipient's consent, and include an easy way to unsubscribe in every message. Honour unsubscribes quickly.
- Remove addresses that bounce permanently and respect spam complaints.
- Authenticate your domain: publish the SPF, DKIM and DMARC records the panel shows.
- Identify yourself truthfully in the From name, subject and content.
What happens if this policy is broken
We may remove content, limit sending, suspend a mailbox, domain or account, and report illegal activity to the authorities, with or without warning when the risk to the service is serious. Where it is safe to do so we will tell you why and give you a chance to fix the problem. Sending limits and monitoring exist to catch problems early; they do not make something allowed.
If you received abusive mail that came through Mailions, or you think an account is being misused, write to [email protected]. Include the full message headers if you have them. We read these reports and act on them.
